"A creative life is an amplified life. It’s a bigger life, a happier life, an expanded life, and a hell of a lot more interesting life. Living in this manner—continually and stubbornly bringing forth the jewels that are hidden within you—is a fine art, in and of itself."
Elizabeth Gilbert

October 5, 2016.
The first day of my new life.
The day I am officially my own boss.
An entrepreneur. A game changer. A Girlboss.
Today, I am officially living my dream.
Holy crap...

Yesterday I said goodbye
to the "corporate world,"
a world I knew so well
for the last 10 years.

I have always loved my job
and career in Human Resources
but I consistently felt like
something was missing.

I could be doing more.
I could be having a bigger impact.
I could stop filtering myself.

When I met my first leadership coach
over 2 years ago, I remember saying
"Wow, I want to be him when I grow up."
He was authentic. He was real. He was kind.
He spoke his mind and he didn't worry about being PC.
He gave the most genuine advice
and perspective without an agenda
other than offering clarity and
allowing me to feel empowered.
(Plus he took off each summer. Jackpot.)

This is what I wanted to do.
This is what was missing.
That authenticity.

But being in the corporate world
and "working for the man" meant
my priorities were always:
company first, people second.
When people would come to me for advice,
I always had to keep
the business's best interest in mind,
and the words that came out of my mouth
weren't always the ones
that were running through my mind.

Even if I knew someone
deserved better
or more money
or that promotion,
if it didn't align with the business,
it couldn't come out of my mouth.
And when it comes to corporate politics?
That was filter overload.

People trusted me.
And I was playing a middleman.
Always trying to help both
but never forgetting
where my paycheck came from.

Trust me, I had plenty of wins along the way
and fought my damn hardest
to get people what they deserved.
And I hope I made an impact in
some of their careers.
But I want more.

I want to make a bigger impact.
I want to give real. genuine. authentic. advice.
I want people to be my number one priority.
I want to share the secrets of navigating corporate politics.
I want to offer clarity and build confidence.
I want people to achieve what they deserve.
I want people to feel empowered.

Because feeling empowered
has a ripple effect.
And this world could use
plenty more people
who aren't afraid to pursue their dreams.

So, here I am.
October 5, 2016.
Entering the world as a
Leadership & Personal Development Coach.
My own boss.
My own business.
My own rules.
It's scary, it's exhilarating, it's real.
It feels f*cking awesome.
